Retired people also have more time for maintaining their homes. If you’re at least 55 years old and retired, you may qualify for a discount of up to 10 percent at some companies.
8. Maintain a good credit record. Establishing a solid credit history can cut your insurance costs. Insurers are now using credit information to price homeowners insurance policies. Your may not even know your insurer increased your premium because of a declining credit score. If your premium increases for no apparent reason ask them why. Check your credit record on a regular basis and have any errors corrected promptly so that your record remains accurate and you are not subject to credit based premium rate increases

Our bathrooms are always getting visits for very obvious reasons. The water and the smooth surfaces however can make these visits into very dangerous ones. The hard countertops and the smooth floors can be real hazards. This is more so for the children, the elderly and the disabled.
There are so many dangers in the bathroom that we can avoid and there are some adjustments that we can make to make the bathroom safer than it currently is.
The bathtub and the toilet can be very dangerous because children and the elderly are at risk of drowning in these few inches of water if they should fall in it head first.
You will need to child proof the bathroom. The small child should not be able to open the lid on the toilet and should not be able to climb into the tub on his own either. When it comes to the elderly, you can out railings or benches in the tub for them to have something to hold and to sit on.
Scalding from hot water is another risk that we take in the bathroom. If hot water comes out abruptly and lands on your skin then you will get scalded.
On reflex, people jump away from this hot water and this can also lead to another problem; slipping and falling. The only way around this is to make sure that you test the water before walking into the shower or jumping into the tub.
